Wines from Campania

During our Campania-themed month, what fits better than wines from the region itself? A reliable recommendation to order for the table is a white wine made from a truly classic grape: Feudi di San Gregorio Greco di Tufo.

By “grumpy,” we mean a stubborn, downright testy grape variety. This is a grape that seems perpetually dissatisfied, despite thriving in the idyllic landscapes of eastern Campania. It takes meticulous care and extraordinary patience in the vineyard—but the reward is exceptional wines.

The volcanic soil, rich in limestone, combined with the sharp temperature differences between day and night, works wonders to deliver a wine to your table with a crackling minerality and a vibrant acidity that sings.

If you’re the type to say that crisp wines taste “sour,” there are plenty of other options on our list for you. But if you love refreshing, dry wines with notes of sun-ripened stone fruit, a touch of mineral-rich sea salt, and a structure reminiscent of the Amalfi Coast’s cliffs, we suggest ordering a well-chilled bottle. Pair it with something like our Vitello Tonnato as a starter, followed by our Branzino—grilled sea bass—as your main course.
